چکیده

To use the network services provided by multiple servers in mobile wireless network, recently, Tsai proposed a hash function and smart card based multi-server authentication protocol. Chen et al. showed that Tsai’s scheme cannot resist the server spoofing attack, and proposed a novel one. In this paper, we show that Chen et al.’s protocol cannot resist off-line password guessing attacks, and propose two improvements of Tsai and Chen et al’s protocols, respectively. Two improved protocols have many advantages over existing solutions, as it relies on neither of encryption, signature, verification tables, timestamp, and public keys directory.

A Secured and Improved Dynamic ID based Remote User Authentication Scheme using Smart Card and Hash Function for Distributed Systems

Abstract—Authentication is a major concern for accessing remote service residing over on server in an distributed systems. It is difficult to remember different identities and passwords for users. In order to solve the flaws encountered in many remote user authentication schemes in multi-server environment, only authentic user login to the remote server has been used. These remote schemes resis...

Dynamic Identity Based Authentication Protocol for Two-Server Architecture

Most of the password based authentication protocols make use of the single authentication server for user’s authentication. User’s verifier information stored on the single server is a main point of susceptibility and remains an attractive target for the attacker. On the other hand, multi-server architecture based authentication protocols make it difficult for the attacker to find out any signi...

Cryptanalysis of Multi-Server Authenticated Key Agreement Scheme Based on Trust Computing Using Smart Cards and Biometrics

Advancement in communication technology provides a scalable platform for various services where a remote user can access the server from anywhere without moving from its place. It has provided a unique opportunity for online services, such that the user need not physically present at the service center. These services adopt authentication and key agreement protocols to ensure authorized and sec...

A Password and Smart Card Based User Authentication Mechanism for Multi-Server Environments

Secure user authentication without repeating registration is one of the important issues in multi-server networks that needs to be adequately addressed. Recently, two-factor (smart card and password) based remote user authentication protocols have been widely introduced due to their low constructional cost and convenient usability for the authentication purpose. In 2011, Chang and Cheng propose...

An efficient dynamic ID based remote user authentication scheme using self-certified public keys for multi-server environment

Recently, Li et al. analyzed Lee et al.’s multi-server authentication scheme and proposed a novel smart card and dynamic ID based remote user authentication scheme for multi-server environments. They claimed that their scheme can resist several kinds of attacks. However, through careful analysis, we find that Li et al.’s scheme is vulnerable to stolen smart card and offline dictionary attack, r...
